In the fourth edition of Czarna Polana, we returned to the world of music and sounds. However, this time around we approached the subject in a very different and unique way. Together with invited artists, we decided to listen to what primal nature of the Białowieża Forest wants to tell us. Now, how did we do that?
Czarna Polana is an artistic project with Żubrówka Czarna’s patronage over the activities of the artists invited to the project. Żubrówka Czarna originates from the pristine nature of the Białowieża Forest from which also Czarna Polana takes its roots.
The challenge was to combine its world, values and place of origin with the artists’ vision also emphasizing the brand’s features. And all that in one project.
Omnipresent technology and fast pace of our lives do not favor contact with nature. We decided to show that it all can coexist.
We were inspired by two trends: biomusic and fieldrecording. The first term means composing music using sounds created without human participation. The second one is a method of recording the sounds of nature using specialized technical equipment. Additionally, we used a device that, when connected to plants, allowed us to register impulses in the form of MIDI files.
How did we use these solutions? We invited two artists to the project: Paulina Przybysz and Baascha, who spent an entire day in the Białowieża Forest and, accompanied by special technological equipment, recorded sounds of nature. Then our artists processed these sounds in a studio and based on that formed a unique tune to which they sang lyrics inspired by their time spent with nature.
What else happened? Our final work included: a Key Visual, which reflected the sound-based character of the project; a music clip with our artists filmed in the Białowieża Forest; making of materials and a wide campaign on both the brand’s and our musicians’ social media channels.
Additionally, we supported our campaign creating a competition with prizes. Every purchase of Żubrówka Czarna was rewarded with a bonus coupon worth 10 PLN for Merlin.pl store as well as a chance to participate in a contest with bigger prizes. In order to do so, one had to go to www.czarnapolana.pl, register their receipt and answer a question. To win there was Harman Kardon speakers or a limited edition of Żubrówka Czarna bottle with a specially created pattern highlighting the premium character of vodka.
